Photographers' Workroom is a 10-week class in project creation and portfolio development.
Emphasis is on photography as process and practice, and using our cameras as a means of personal expression and way to see. Although technical questions will be addressed as they arise, this is not a technical ‘how-to’ class.
There are several class assignments to stimulate thinking creatively and responsively to suggested prompts. In addition, we’ll study other photographic artist portfolios from who we might learn and grow.
All cameras and levels of ability and experience are welcome, as is any method or medium of image-making. The only requirement is that of presence and a willingness to experiment and explore.
Each student will choose an individual project that he/she might like to pursue during the course of our time together. While working on our projects, we engage in communal, supportive discussions of each other’s work.
The end goal is for each student to have completed a cohesive body of work (10-12 images) that speaks to a chosen intention or story.
