To Sit in Quiet

March 27, 2016 Marcie Scudder

How might it be to sit in this quiet? To drift? To dream? To imagine?
To be fully visible and completely invisible all at once and the same time?

I wondered.

I wondered about their significance.
In the scheme of this great grand universe...would anyone take notice if they disappeared?

I wondered about their magnificence.

Some consider them to be kind...loyal...brave.
They never leave a one of their own behind. They fiercely protect their young. They compassionately defend their communities.
The sound of their voices in flight is hauntingly beautiful.  Seasonal symphonies of uplifted song.

I wondered what different we might all see....if we might choose to see different?

This - I concluded - is how it might be to truly sit in this quiet.
To make space.
To allow. To observe. To listen.
To notice.
Our thoughts come....and they go.

I wondered.

What might it be to be them? To sit in this quiet?
