The Color of Shimmer

October 25, 2015 Marcie Scudder

The season is softening...releasing...letting itself go.

The leaves are falling. The color is transforming.
There's little that remains of the deep magentas...golden reds and rich oranges of only a few short days ago.

It's quiet.
The colors of today don't attract the attention of yesterday.
I'm free to roam...to look...to see...to be still in the space of silence. Mother nature by my side.

She is wise. She is patient. She knows.

The colors shimmer in the morning light.
The pale yellows are almost iridescent.
The coppers have lost their polish...but continue to shine.
The remaining greens remind me of the spring's first buds.
There is something magical about the cycle.

I love the hush. I love the peace. I love the gentler light.

What a gift - I thought.
To be here. To see with all my heart.
To observe as this season makes space for another.
