As I've previously mentioned - this year's calendar is a yoking together of all of my daily practices - yoga..photography and writing. Each month includes one of my Muse-In-You-Yogi photos and an accompanying yoga sutra.
'The fivefold modifications of the mind are right knowledge, wrong knowledge, fancy, sleep and memory.'
These five modifications - when combined together - become the consciousness of mind. Looked at in entirety they create an all-inclusive three-dimensional vision of our mental states. All that we see and hear and feel is filtered thru these states - waking...dreaming...seeing...touching...feeling.
Altho it might appear that the 'goal' of yoga is to stop these fluctuations-of-mind...it is actually the opposite. The 'goal' is to recognize them...to name and address them...to authorize, acknowldedge and accept them...and then - to find that space of stillness within.
