So many things could have gone wrong. But - didn't.
She could have gotten herself lost in the mist and fog. Or - one of her precious wings could have gotten itself damaged or injured. Or - she could have wondered and worried that she'd never find her way.
It didn't stop her.
She could have easily talked herself out of getting started...out of simply beginning. Or - she could have stayed stuck on the ground where she felt comfortable and safe. Or - she could have hidden herself in and among the others...never daring to strike out and fly on her own.
But - she didn't.
I watched as she flew. Graceful and free. I watched how she landed. In just the right way..in just the right time. I wondered if she'd been practicing...or if this was her first maiden flight and voyage. I marveled at her courage.
In spite of the fear and the self-doubt...in spite of those voices inside her - she spread her wings and took to the sky.
So many things could have gone wrong - but didn't.
