Ring of Fire

There she stood - frozen in time..stopped in place. The soft ground beneath her - hardened. The harsh winter light - glaringly bright in spite of the morning fog and mist and haze.

Around her - they rose to their feet..they applauded..they commanded and demanded an encore. One more time. Please. One more. More..more.

Surprised by the reception. Stunned. Overwhelmed by this sudden unexpected stardom and success. Afraid - always afraid - of never quite being able to live up to that expectation that only she expects others are always expecting.

How will she ever repeat this performance? How will she continue to show up here again..and again..and again...and again after that?

She brought her hands to her center. She took a deep breath. She bowed her head in deepest gratitude and respect. In between the sounds of her hearts beating..she found that balance..that trust.

And - in the ring of that fire - she danced.
