Sleepy Shadows

Yes - that was once..not-so-very-long-ago - us. Full of color and energy. Full of life. Yes - we once stood proudly in the light..fearless and unafraid. We wore hot pinks and purples and reds and blues and chartreuse greens. We reached for the sun and danced with stars. We were - just like they. Forever young.

It's true. Today - we're a little faded..a lot grey..maybe even white. Often -we're found in the quiet of the shade and sleepy dark shadows. No longer do we dress ourselves in the colors of those more exotic flowers of youth. No longer do we have the need to show ourselves off in those show-and-tell flower beds.

Today - we are happy to simply be. Some days - we reminisce about days gone by. Other days - we wonder about what the future might have in store. Most days - we're simply grateful for this day. For the morning light. For the evening sun. For the wisdom and peace of age..and the air we breathe.

Today is the best day ever. Don't you agree?

Coming this Saturday - the first in a once-monthly series of 'Saturday Salons' - where I'll be introducing and sharing the work of other artists who I've met along my journeys here on this great world wide web.

"One of the signs of passing youth is the birth of a sense of fellowship with other human beings as we take our place among them."
