Coming of Age

I began this project as a way of connecting to, and recording a year in the life of my 15-year old daughter. With an arm's length distance between us, I watch and observe as she so quickly grows into herself.  Her life is about her school, her sports, her friends. Forever curious, I find myself sneaking glimpses, seeking out clues as to who she is so quickly becoming. Focusing my camera on her gave me the opportunity to open doors that would otherwise have been closed. 

The year is 2004. The  United States is at war in  Iraq. George W. Bush has been re-elected for a second term. There has been a giant tsunami in  Southeast Asia. Here - in my daughter's world, life has remained steady and safe and untouched
